Album of drawings, some initialed J.S.A. (American Amateur, probably native of Baltimore), with a title page: AN EIGHT DAYS' CRUISE OF THE JAMES E. STANSBURY.DOWN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY JULY, 1879,'' and with a second title page labeled ''GO WEST,'' the first section containing 40 humorous pen and ink sketches on nine leaves, detailing life aboard the schooner and a visit to Oxford on the Eastern Shore; the second part containing 84 drawings, mostly pen and ink but also a few watercolors and pencil drawings of prospectors and pioneer life in La Plata County, Colorado, pasted to 25 leaves, the last leaf mounted with a cabinet card of the artist and his companions labeled ''THREE ROCKY MOUNTAIN VAGABONDS / SILVER SAN JUAN.1882,'' the whole in 4to format, bound in dark grey-green cloth.
