This has a wonderful lively character, contrasting to the formal elegance of the previous lot. This is partly a matter of the faces, just repressing smiles—in particular the slightly roguish expression of the central figure. The slight angle of the hats also contributes, particularly the surprising white hat of the figure at the right. 1/6 plate daguerreotype in a case with repaired spine. [4]
