1/6 plate portrait of this well-appointed gent who appears pleased with himself, with his tall hat and cane, posed before a painted backdrop that represents a pillared balcony overlooking a seaside scene. Pillars and columns are common studio props, but they rarely have a scenic purpose. He seems right at home there; one can almost smell the sea air. The plate is still sealed. Slight coloration to his face, with a few minor brown spots. In a nice case with its original spine. [3]
