22 EXTREMELY RARE STILLS DREYER'S "VAMPYR."

This 1932 film by the great Danish director Carl-Theodor Dreyer was produced in 1932, in Germany and France (its original title was "L'Etrange Aventure de Devid Gray.") The director of photography was Rudolf Maté, who had worked with Dreyer a few years earlier on "The Passion of Joan of Arc," and was later to work in Hollywood as cinematographer ("Foreign Correspondent" and "Gilda") and director ("D.O.A.")

These images reflect the imaginative genius of Dreyer, Maté, and the talented cast. The dreamy experimental character of the film has been continually influential.

These 6 ˝" x 9" vintage matte gelatin silver prints have the original paper labels on the verso for "FILM PRODUCTION CARL DREYER… Paris."

It would be a daunting challenge to assemble another comparable set. [3+]
