EARLY CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE OFFICER'S SW

EARLY CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE OFFICER'S SWORD WITH SCABBARD. Northern made sword is signed on the scabbard "Ames Mfg., Chicopee, Mass", but has the sword maker's signature scratched out on the lower blade. Scrolled etching on the blade with raised etched inscription"Col. P. O. Tricou, Qr. Mr. Gen. LA. Army" with a star. Original sharkskin grip and wire wrap remain. Leather and brass scabbard. 36"l. Purchased from Norm Flayderman in the 1960's and includes a letter from him stating that he carefully hand cleaned the piece leaving most all of the original gilt, also comments on the fine etching.
