Description

CIVIL WAR OFFICER'S PRESENTATION SWORD AND SASH. Finely engraved on the top band of the scabbard, "Presented to Lieut. Wm. P. Spalding, 27th Regiment, Mich., Infantry By The True And Loyal Men, Saul Ste. Marie, Lake Superior, Michigan, October 7, 1862". 30 1/4"l. blade is etched and has the engraved signature "Ames Mfg., Chicopee, Mass.". Openwork brass hilt is missing leather wrapping and retains some wire decoration. Leather and brass scabbard. Sash is maroon in color with tassels. Copies of the Spalding family record included.
