Description: [78] pp. Introduction by Dashiell Hammett. Illustrated with cartoons throughout. Oblong 8vo. Illustrated orange wrappers stamped in black. First Edition, first printing. At age 49, Hammett enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and soon found himself editing the camp newspaper on the island of Adak in the Aleutians, which had only recently been liberated from Japanese occupation. Hammett edited and financed this book of cartoons by soldier artists on his staff. Layman B9.
