Author: London, Jack Description: viii, [2], 405, [3] + [6] ad pp. 7-3/8x4¾, dark blue cloth lettered in white with cover pictorial design in light blue & yellow. First Edition. Presentation copy inscribed by Jack London to Mrs. Waterhouse (wife of author Alfred J. Waterhouse) on the front free endpaper: "Dear Mrs. Waterhouse: - Just to inveigle you into forgetting more serious things, such as state fairs, by leading you astray on the South Seas adventure path. Sincerely yours, Jack London, Sept. 24, 1913." There is a sepia-tone silver photograph of Jack and Charmian London, standing before and seated on a boat on land, tipped to the front pastedown. Mrs. A.J. Waterhouse, nee Lillian Hines, and her husband, writer and sometime editor of the San Francisco Examiner, were friends of the Londons, and members of their literary circle.
