1786 VT Copper, Baby Head
Description
Popular Vermont Copper "Baby Head" Variety
1786 VT Copper, "Baby Head," Ryder-9, Fine.
Rich dark chocolate-brown in color, with lighter high points. This coin is struck on a fully round planchet and appears free of the voids and heavy flaws that often plague this issue. Best of all, it has a full, mostly legible date and obverse details for the grade. Slight surface porosity, light scrape on the obverse, with some shallow hits on the right side of the reverse. This example looks and is, actually a nice coin for the grade and an excellent value, per our estimate range. The "Baby Head" is a highly distinctive, one-variety major design type, that has earned its own individual listing in the Official Red Book Guide.
