Description
Dr. Lin 9028 A Xuande style club-form vase with a thick and a heavy wall. Its thick and heavy body mimics Xuande imperial porcelains, which often have thick and heavy bodies. It is decorated with Tibetan scripture and buddhist lotus flower, all in good underglaze copper red. Here again, these motifs also mimic Xuande porcelain motifs. The outer base burnt red during firing, which is called €œkiln-red€ and is common on the unglazed outer base of many porcelains of early Ming Dynasty. The club-shape vases started to appear during late Ming-early Qing.
