Taiwanese handicrafts were featured on a series of four postage stamps, the high value ($8) pictured a doll of a bridegroom carrying bride on his back. This is the original model upon which stamp was based. It was awarded to eminent philatelist Herbert Rosen at a stamp show he attended in Taiwan. The doll (hand-made by an extraordinary artist) is magnificently detailed. It stands 19" high with brilliantly colored native dress in too many colors to list. There are pearls on both bride & groom, beads, a wooden 'backpack', feathers, fringes, etc. All are in a custom case with black & clear base & clear plastic cover. Overall dimensions approximately 21"x13"x8". In excellent condition with the occasional dinged feather or slight fading. Still a museum quality piece of Asian folk art. Unique.
