1918 WWI JEWISH WELFARE BOARD POSTER

Sign In to see what this sold for

A rarely seen 33"x21" two-color poster designed by Sidney Rosenberg & printed by Theo. Gravier Inc. NY. Severe edge & corner flaws all around, but some trimming, quality mounting will display this rare poster fully. The image is of a blue Star of David to the left of a wonderfully drawn soldier raising his hand towards the audience. Light, even, overall toning. Accompanying this great poster is a accordion-folded brochure (folded size 3½"x6") with a duplicate in brown of the poster itself on the front & details of the work of the Jewish Welfare Board throughout the pamphlet. Also includes a second WWI poster 20"x30" for the 'United War Work Campaign', this was a unified fund raising campaign for 'United We Serve' an amalgam of the Y.M.C.A., Y.W.C.A., K of C, Jewish Welfare Board, War Camp Community Service, American Library Assoc. & Salvation Army. This campaign was to raise $170,500,000 for the fund, hence the '170' numbers in the 4 corners of the poster. This poster is in better condition than the Jewish Welfare Board item with only minor edge tears & a few other edge flaws. Overall an outstanding & rare WW I poster lot. Inspection highly recommended.
