Very rare 9x12" handbill. On the day of President Kennedy's assassination in Dallas, TX Nov. 22, 1963, the John Birch Society ran a full-page advertisement in the 'Dallas Morning News' which was paid for by three wealthy Dallas businessmen: Nelson Bunker Hunt, H.R. 'Bum' Bright & Edgar Crissey. This ad was ironically black bordered & posed 12 questions to Kennedy, including: Why have you ordered or permitted your brother Bobby, the Attorney General, to go soft on Communists, fellow-travelers and ultra-leftists in America, while permitting him to persecute loyal American who criticize you,...' Also, on the day of Kennedy's visit to Dallas, handbills anonymously and mysteriously appeared on the streets of Dallas with two photos of Kennedy arranged in police mug-shot fashion and underneath them the bold headline 'Wanted for Treason' with the following caption: 'THIS MAN WANTED FOR TREASONOUS ACTIVITIES AGAINST THE UNITED STATES' followed by seven allegations of treasonous activity including: Betraying the Constitution, He has been lax in enforcing Communist Registration Laws, He has given support and encouragement to the Communist inspired racial riots, etc. It is reported that the Warren Commission was unable to find an original copy. It is also reported that the Kennedy Library does not own an original of the handbills. This ORIGINAL HANDBILL (9"x12") has normal age toning with light soiling, primarily in upper corners with minor edge repairs. The rarest of Kennedy assassination memorabilia. Historically significant. Originally sold by 'Lone Star Autographs' who indicated PROVENANCE from estate of a Dallas newspaper cartoonist with known radical political views. Original 'Lone Star' catalog included.
