Important American Rococo Revival Laminated Rosewood Sofa, attributed to Charles A. Baudouine, New York, third quarter 19th century, the central pierced and carved crest featuring the mask of Bacchus, flanked by chair-back ends profusely carved with scrolls and flowers, h. 46", w. 81", d. 30". A near identical sofa is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago and is pictured in "American Furniture of the !9th Century 1840-1880" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow, page 117, and a labeled matching sidechair is in the collection of the High Museum, Atlanta, Georgia.
