GEORGE NAKASHIMA Eight-drawer walnut wall-hanging cabinet with burlwood pulls. (An exceptional and unusual early Nakashima cabinet, the piece was originally designed as part of the interior of a residence on King's Point, Long Island, for his early patrons, the Hammer family. Nakashima served as both the architect and interior designer, and the home was heralded as a new style of modern design influenced by handmade materials. Illustrated in an August 19th, 1951 New York Times article, The Handcraft Theme, by Betty Pepis, the photographs were reprinted in a January 1952 Times article, Looking Back at 1951, also by Pepis.) 11 3/4" x 96 1/4" x 19 1/4"
