The violin of Leopold Godowsky made by Josef Klotz, violin maker of Mittenwalde, Germany. A gift to Jack Naylor from the estate of Leopold Godowsky. The lot is accompanied by a photo of Wim Van Keulen, First Violin, Amsterdam Symphony in which he is holding Godowsky's violin. Written on the photo are the words: "It Should Be Played, Not Displayed". Circa 1870.
