Paris leaving Helen of Troy for war, unsigned, oil on canvas, first quarter 19th century, 44-3/4 x 57-3/4 in.; possibly original 19th century gilt wood and composition cove molding frame. Original stretcher and tacking edge with wrought nails, patches verso at right of painting (some older, one large), two periods of retouch, within some areas of draw crackle in Paris' robe and in architecture and area of green drapery at left, small hole at edge upper right, crackle, recently cleaned by Fine Art Restorations, Asheville, North Carolina, with repair to a tear; frame with losses, retouch and repairs. Provenance: Private Collection.
