(1st edition) LITTLE DORRIT by Charles Dickens. Bradbury & Evans, London, 1857. xiv, 625pp. With engraved frontis facing an engraved title page dated 1857 and with 38 other plates illus by "Phiz" (HK Browne ). Bound in publisher's blind-paneled and decorated olive green cloth. 1st ed with signature "BB2" misprinted as "B2", and on p 469 "Rigaud" instead of "Blandois", and without an errata slip. Signatures A7 and SSI are single sheets. The plates and text are lightly toned with darker browning creeping only into the margins. Bound from the parts, with staple holes present. Sadleir 691, Smith I-91. Scarce in original publisher's cloth, albeit loose, rear interior hinge beginning. Binding is soiled and stained and with faded spine, frayed spine ends, and a lengthy split in fabric at front spine gutter. Should be seen.
