(American Revolution) Graydon, Alexander. MEMOIRS OF A LIFE CHIEFLY PASSED IN PENNSYLVANIA WITHIN THE LAST SISTY YEARS…Harrisburgh (sic), PA, Printed by John Wyeth, 1811. 12mo, 378 (1)pp. Last leaf being errata. Bound in full period tree calf with leather spine label. Front board detached, extremities of binding heavily worn and scratched. Contents tight but lightly foxed and toned. In 1775, Graydon received the appointment of Captain from congress and raised recruits for the Army. He served in the Battle of Long Island, and was taken prisoner in the subsequent action on Harlem Heights. For a time, he was confined in NY and then in Flatbush, and afterward was released on Parole. He then passed through the American camp in Morristown and continued on to Reading, PA. Howes G344.
