Phila, RW Pomeroy, printed by J Maxwell, 1823-27. 8vo, 9 vols, complete with 31 stipple engraved portraits with orig. tissue guards by JB Longacre, many after paintings by Copley and Stuart. An assembled set with various title page dates and printings, all bound uniformly in full tree calf with red and black leather spine labels (many missing). Some boards detached and all bindings heavily worn. Contents tight with moderate to heavy foxing throughout. A difficult set to assemble with all its portraits. Howes S88. Sabin 73699.
