(Art periodical) THE ALDINE, THE ART JOURNAL OF AMERICA. Volume 8, 1876-77 (24 issues). Folio, 382pp. This was the first year where the full page plates had tissue guards. It was also the first bound annual to have the beautifully printed general title page done in an Eastlake style in gold, red, and black. Includes 3 full page plates by Thomas Moran + a 3 page spread on the Juniata River in Pa with 4 engravings by him (pp264-66). Bound in ¾ period black leather and brown pebbled cloth boards. Both boards detached and spine mostly gone, but text block still very clean and very tight with all tissue guards in place.
