Autograph Letter Signed, "Grover Cleveland" as President on Executive Mansion stationery, 3 pages, August 14, 1886, Washington, DC, 8" x 5", Very Fine. Some fold splitting, repaired with tape or stamp hinges on the back; minor loss on the lower right corner of the second page. President Cleveland writes to William Steinway (of piano fame), thanking him for a grand piano given as a wedding present: "My delay in acknowledging the receipt of your valuable wedding present, is explained by the statement that I desired very much to tell you when I expressed my thanks, how well our grand piano looked and sounded in our new Country home..." Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope.
