Title: A New Map of the State of California, the Territories of Oregon, Washington, Utah & New Mexico
Author: Desilver, Charles
Description: Lithographed map, hand-colored. 38x30 cm. (15x11¾") plus decorative border. The West at a time of dramatic change, both in terms of geographic discovery and political and economic development. New Mexico stretches to the Califorina border, with its southern portion, to the post-Gadsden border, labeled "Proposed Arizona Territory." Numerous mining towns are named in California, including Auburn, Columa [sic], Marysville, Yuba City, Downieville, etc., and Benecia is the state capital. Utah extends from the Rockies to the California border; Salt Lake City perches on the east side of the Great Salt Lake. A number of proposed railroad lines cross the territories.
