Obsolete Currency
Port Richmond, NY, The Staten Island Bank, $1000, Proprietary Proof on Card, Superb Gem.
Haxby NY-2255-G16, PRF-R7. This note was selected for the American Paper Money Collection project by the ABNCo. to represent New York. It was from a very rare location on the "Fifth Borough" and a high denomination, This test impression uses the lithographic look, though it is intaglio and is printed from the original plates engraved by Durand & Co. circa 1840. The wharf scene is quite similar to the view at Old Slip in lower Manhattan today with the exception of the vessels. Not stamped on the verso in any manner by the ABN during its proprietary ownership after the 1990 sales.
