Description

OUTSTANDING HAGERSTOWN, MD POLYCHROME-SLIP DECORATED LEAD-GLAZED EARTHENWARE BOWL, wide slightly dished rim and a pronounced foot, exceptionally well executed spiked and arched slip decoration on inner shoulder, slip-trailed undulating line around rim. Attributed to Adam Neff, Hagerstown, MD. Late 18th to first quarter 19th century. 2" h, 10 3/4" dia rim, 6 1/4" dia foot

Note: This recently discovered bowl's decorative execution represents the pinnacle of the Hagerstown tradition. Coupled with its unsurpassed condition, this represents one of the top examples of Hagerstown pottery in private hands.

Remarkably near proof condition with only some very minor wear to rim edges.
