JABEZ JOHNSON, CHARLESTON, SC (BRITISH MADE) MUSICAL BRACKET CLOCK, mahogany case with elaborate brass inlays and mounts, dial engraved "Warranted by Jabez Johnson" and "Charleston", South Carolina state-seal-like emblem above the two subsidiary dials, movement signed "Handley & Moore, Clerkenwell, London" on reverse, the musical mechanism playing on ten bells.. First quarter 19th century. 28" h, 13" w, 7 1/4" d
Provenance: From an old New England collection.
Note: Jabez W. Johnson is recorded by MESDA as a clockmaker or watchmaker working in Charleston, SC from 1795 to 1821.

Excellent condition, two losses to inlay, appears to be running, musical mechanism does not appear to be operating.
