Alfred Hutty (SC, 1877-1954), "Deep South,"
drypoint etching, signed lower right in pencil, titled lower margin in pencil "Deep South," matted and framed under glass; Hutty was one of the founding members of the Charleston Etchers' Club and profoundly influenced the flourishing of the artistic community during the Charleston Renaissance. "Deep South" showcases Hutty's mastery of both the landscape tradition coupled with the appeal to Social Realism popular during the 1930s. His technical and artistic talents garnered many accolades and his works are included in numerous public and private collections. - Plate Size 9" x 10 1/8" Private collection.
