Description
Eugene-Louis Lami. (b. 1800-1890) French. At the Ball. Watercolor over graphite. 4 ½ x 6 ½ in. Monogrammed and dated in graphite lower right: "EL 818". Influenced by the colorful ceremonies at the marriage of Louis-Philippe and the inauguration of the museum at Versailles in 1837, Lami began to concentrate on watercolors depicting the court of Louis-Philippe and the bourgeois.
