HEPPLEWHITE BOWED SLANT-FRONT DESK. Probably Worcester County, Massachusetts, ca. 1800. Mahogany and cherry with pine secondary wood. Bow-front form with four graduated drawers resting on a shaped skirt and French feet. Crossbanded inlay on the drawers and a satinwood diamond on the fallboard. The interior has three over five drawers over seven cubbyholes, three of which have drawers. Descended in the Sawyer family of Hudson and Bolton, Massachusetts. Retains an older finish with good color, minor imperfections. 44 1/2"h. 39"w. 19 1/2"d. 30 1/2" writing height.
