TWO SAMPLERS. Early 19th century. Silk on linen. According to notes probably made by two members of the Stone family, Rachel and C.R. Other textiles decending in the family had a Connecticut connection. Simple sets of alphabeths in blue, red, and gold divided by red cross sitch bands on the larger work. Small light stains.12"w. 81/2"h. The small has one set of ABC's and numbers in blue, gold and brown. Thread loss. 4"h. 9 3/4"w. In painted red frames. Signed David A. Sheley.
