DIZZY DEAN AUTOGRAPHED BASEBALL

Sign In to see what this sold for

The ace of the famous 'Gashouse Gang' St. Louis Cardinals team of the 1930s, Jerome Hanna 'Dizzy' Dean was arguably the best pitcher in the National League from 1932 to 1936. He is the last National League pitcher to win 30 games, a feat he attained in 1934, a World Series winning year for the Redbirds. This hand-signed baseball likely dates from this era or immediately after, as the ball itself is an official National League baseball with commissioner Ford Frick, who reigned from 1934-1951. Dean's signature is on the side of the ball, just above the Frick 'signature'. The ball itself yellowed with time and signature faded somewhat; there is also an unexplained abrasion on one panel. Still, it is certainly a worthwhile addition to any serious collection of Hall-of-Fame player memorabilia. (2007 JSA COA)
