From one of their more mediocre eras in their long storied history, early 1970s New York Yankees were a .500 ballclub after the Maris/Mantle years & before the Reggie Jackson late '70s mini-dynasty. This baseball appears to have been signed by most players from either the '70 or '71 season. The key signature, Thurman Munson, is unfortunately a 'clubhouse' signature. Other well-known Yankee players on this ball include: Bobby Murcer, Mel Stottlemyre, Gene Michael and former catcher and then first base coach, Elston Howard. Manager Ralph Houk has also signed this OAL (Cronin) baseball. Some signatures appear twice or in different ink, implying perhaps that these signatures were not necessarily done in 1970. Still, an interesting selection of Yankee signatures, great for the Yankee fan of all eras. (2007 JSA COA)
