Elephant ivory and this items was imported into the United States legally. -This nautical dress has an inlaid abalone medallion in it's top and also inlaid stars, flowers and scrolls. The hexagonal ivory center section is inscribed "John Hoch April 1st 1873" in early India ink. It has a very ornate gold collar, an exotic wood shaft and an unusual ferrule which is made of iron. There is one star missing from the inlay on the top of the handle-H. 2 ½" x 1 ½", O.L. 35 ½"-$800-$1,200
