Robert Bateman is considered to be Canada’s most honored and acclaimed artist. Recipient of ten honorary doctorate degrees, 77 year old Bateman continues to paint six hours a day. Known internationally for his naturalistic paintings, Bateman has had one-man exhibitions in all major cities around the world, including a showing at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC that drew record crowds. His paintings can be found in major art galleries around the globe, as well as on Canada’s Endangered Species Postage Stamp Series (1976-1981), and on Canada’s 1990 Royal Mint Polar Bear Coin Series.
Robert’s two sons, Alan Bateman and John Bateman have followed in their father’s artistic path. Alan, an acclaimed artist in his own right, is considered to be one of Canada’s finest realist painters. John, a gifted wood carver works in his father’s shop as a fine furniture maker and decorative box carver.
“Naomi’s Hope for a Cure” is proud to be the recipient of the Bateman family hope chest. Carved by John, and painted by Robert and Alan, this is the third time that father and sons have joined together to produce a piece of art. This is your unique opportunity to purchase a work of art carved and painted by Robert, Alan, and John Bateman.
