AFTER WILLIAMS BOUGUEREAU (French, 19th C.) Portrait of Ariadne (Reclining Nude), 1875. Oil on canvas (framed). Signed and dated "W. BOUGUEREAU 1875". 74 3/4" x 44" Note: The original painting of “Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos” was painted by John Vanderlyn in the early 1800s and remains in the collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Asher B. Durand also did an engraving of the famous painting in the 1830s.
