“Peace of the Flowing Air” On Wednesday October 10th, at the Old Torpedo Factory in Alexandria Virginia, four area children treated for cancer worked with Oklahoma artist Denise Duong to paint a children’s “hope chest.” Two additional children who had been invited to participate were unable to attend as they were not feeling well. Childhood cancer greatly impacts the lives of children each and every day. Normal routines are interrupted with treatment regimens. Special activities are often cancelled due to low blood counts, infections or simply from feeling too sick. On Sunday, October 14th one of the little boyswho was hoping to participate in the painting of the hope chest earned his wings after a 15 month battle with brain cancer at the age of 5. This hope chest entitled “Peace of the Flowing Air” is dedicated to his short life. The following blessing was included in a note from his family.
