Original Mirana Zuger painted hope chest entitled “Beauty in Strength” Mirana’s work employs organic abstraction to expose sensuality through the traditional medium of oil paint. Forms are created out of a compromise between an understanding of self and an indulgence in spontaneity. Mirana is particularly interested in color play and configuring palettes which would normally not be seen together. She invests in the creation of openings and layers to create shallow depth as forms emerge curiously to seek out one another. Mirana is a close friend of Naomi’s, and she offered to paint a hope chest for the fundraiser despite an incredibly busy schedule in preparation for traveling to Croatia for a solo exhibition this October. Mirana has held several exhibitions in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa, and in February 2006, Mirana was a recipient of an Ontario Arts Council grant. We are delighted to have a hope chest painted by one of Ontario’s rising stars!
