Condition reportCONDITION REPORT: NOTE: CONDITION REPORT HAS BEEN AMENDED AS OF DECEMBER 8TH, 11:00 AM CENTRAL TIME. Fine to very fine condition. Old strip lining viewable under canvas tacking edge. One and One-Half inch horizontal inpaint to fill loss from strainer bar damage, half inch above signature area. Some canvas sag due to the strainer. Micro-flaking with some loss upper left hand corner in the sky. Micro-flaking and lifting lower right in tracks under tree in shadow area. Lower strainer bar horizontal line emerging in canvas. Some mild to moderate cracking along lower frame edge. In trees well defined impasto throughout.
RECOMMENDATION: The painting needs to be removed from the strainer and put onto a stretcher. Most of the damages in this painting are due to sag and canvas droop caused by lack of tension on the canvas. A table treatment would consolidate surface. Light cleaning and new varnish. ULTRAVIOLET ANALYSIS: UV shows area directly above signature, approximate size of a pencil laid sideways of one and a half inch length, only area on canvas that fluoresces -- as described above.
