27 5/8" Damascus barrels, smooth concave rib marked 'STEPHEN GRANT & SON, 67A ST. JAMES STREET, LONDON'. Sling swivel base on lower rib. Case-hardened action border engraved with 80-line foliate scroll. Rebounding bar-action locks, low hammers, Greener crossbolt, low percussion fences. Checkered half-pistol grip stock of figured English walnut, round knob, vacant brass oval. Heel and toe plates, drop points. Splinter forend with Anson-type release. Recent trunk case with maker's label.

Very good to excellent condition overall. Good Damascus pattern on plum brown barrels, very slightly pitted. Sharp full coverage rose-and-scroll engraving. Wood is fine checkering sharp.

Barrels: Fine Damascus, browning very good, possibly slightly shortened. Right barrel with no choke, and left barrel slightly improved cylinder. Internal pitting has been removed in both barrels. Right with minor rivels and three smallish dents. Wall measurements minimum 26L and minimum 27R. Slightly loose on the face. Action brushed bright, original hammer, metal on metal fit excellent, and wood to metal fit very good. Forend wood very good, checkering re-cut from hand to forend. Possibly small crack developing rear of top strap. Stock wood condition sound.
