Here's a rare 17th century oil on canvas attributed to Denys Calvaert. In the style of the Fountainebleau School, this canvas is chock full of symbolism and fantasy images. Such as the snake entwined hand mirror and the compass in the subjects lower hand. Take a close look at her foot is on the symbol covered globe, or the quizzical expression on the dogs face. Or all of the reverse images on the tall mirror to her left.Calvaert's name faintly appears on the upper section of t frame verso. Measures: 25" Tall X 19" Wide. Condition: Good/As Is, Relined. Some overpainting and paint loss on forehead
