June Carter Cash Nudie's Tunic
Consisting of a rose-colored belted suede tunic with Native American style patchwork beading, fringe and embroidery on the chest, back yoke, cuffs and bottom hem; together with a similar long skirt with fringe and beading on the bottom hem, both with labels reading Nudie's Rodeo Tailors / North Hollywood, California, worn on stage by June in 1982 at the CBS Records Show during Fan Fair at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. 3 items approximate size 6-8 CATALOGUE NOTE Born in Kiev, Russia in 1902, Nudie Cohn moved to California in the early 1940s and set up his first shop called Nudie's Rodeo Tailors in North Hollywood. He started out tailoring clothes for performers such as Dale Evans and Roy Rogers, then expanded into clothing the best names in entertainment including John Wayne, Gene Autry, Ronald Reagan, Robert Mitchum, Hank Snow, Hank Williams and Johnny and June, to name a few. Nudie is said to be the first tailor to use rhinestones and he created a $10,000 gold lame tuxedo for Elvis Presley. In 1962, Manuel Cuevas, a tailor for Sinatra and his rat pack, joined Nudie's. Manuel married Nudie's daughter Barbara and the business flourished. In 1972, Manuel and Barbara divorced, also dissolving Manuel's partnership with Nudie's.
