Daguerreotype of the "Elephant Store" in Plymouth, Ohio, anonymous sixth plate, circa 1852. A bird's eye view, taken from a second story window showing a large clapboard building with a sign for "Knight, Spencer & Co." with a huge hand-painted banner depicting an elephant hanging from the third story. Accompanied by an old typescript description detailing the scene. Much activity here, with wagons, a large American flag flying, and the spire of the Presbyterian church, and a hotel visible. Uncased, in mat and preserver. A fine, documented Midwestern image.
