Early Half Plate Daguerreotype, anonymous, though judging from the case and mat style, likely taken in Philadelphia. A sensitively posed image of a family, the composition reflecting the common "kit-kat" structure used by portrait painters in the 1840s, in which the frame is divided into halves. Would guess this to be mid '40s, and worthy of cleaing.
