Chinese painting, probably late Qing dynasty, depicting a beauty in European costume seated on a rocky outcropping under a shade tree, her delicate face framed by a wide-brimmed straw hat encircling her elaborately plaited hair, her right hand toying with a basket filled with blossoms while her left hand holds a long-handled shovel, colophon inscribed with pair of 7-character couplets followed by the cyclical date 'bingwu', bearing the signature 'Lang Shining' (=Giuseppe Castiglione) bottom left, executed in ink and color on silk, now mounted as a panel painting (some losses), 61.5''l; painting 50''h x 25.75''w
