probably Qajar pottery, from a synagogue in Mexico, having a picture of a man and woman in an interior with an inscription that reads "Joseph and the Wife of Putifar" (Putifar, an Egyptian general in the time of the Pharaohs), also sometimes referred to as "The Chastity of Joseph". Unframed and unmounted, 14" high, 9 3/4" wide. Firing flaws, minor fritting and small chip to lower left corner.
