Rare Hardcover Indian Peace Medal Catalog By Belden
Book: "Indian Peace Medals Issued in the United States" by Bauman L. Belden, Hardcover Revised Edition of 1966, Extremely Fine.
Nearly as rare as the 1927 paperback original, this revised reprint has a blue cloth hard cover and printed dust jacket, which depicts a medal showing George Washington and an Indian chief smoking a Peace Pipe. Published by N. Flayderman & Co. in New Milford, CT, this is the 1972 printing of the 1966 Revised Edition, measuring 11.25" x 8..75," and containing 46 pages plus 22 plates and a frontispiece, which depicts an engraving of Red Jacket wearing his Indian Peace Medal. The pale blue dust jacket has some small tears, chipping and is missing a small piece in one corner. The covers and spine are in choice condition with only the lightest wear on the bottom edges. The pages are clean, bright, tightly bound and in excellent condition. One of the earliest works on the subject, this is a standard classic work on the medals awarded by the American government to Native American Indian Chiefs.
