Roy De Forest (American, 1930 - 2007)

Color lithograph. 1957. Probably an artist's proof. Signed and dated in pencil, lower left. 17 7/8 x 24 in. (454 x 610 mm). Sheet Size: 18 x 24 1/8 in. (457 x 613 mm). De Forest's work evolved through a number of styles, from abstraction to non-objective, from funk to realism. His early paintings were composed of larger, overlapping, amorphous shapes in bright colors. The early prints were not as colorful and were characterized by "Motherwellian" blacks. These prints appear to have been issued in very small editions, if editioned at all, and undoubtedly are very rare.
