Claudia L. Dobbins (American, Active 1940s) Daisies and Chrysanthemums. Oil on canvas. c1940s. Signed on canvas frame, verso. 24 x 20 in. (610 x 508 mm). Born in Michigan on November 10, 1889. Dobbins was a long-time resident of Los Angeles. She studied there for four years at Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes, four years in Norfolk, and five years at the ASL of NYC under George Bridgman and Frank Vincent DuMond. Dobbins was mysterious and secretive about her works and seldom sold any of them. Her paintings are rarely seen. Her name was Urquhart at the time of her death in Los Angeles on October 29, 1969.
