Peter Cooper's Philosophical Statement
PETER COOPER, American Industrialist and Inventor.
Undated, Autograph Memo Signed, "Peter Cooper," on pale blue lined paper, 6.5" x 7," Choice Extremely Fine. Peter Cooper's bold signature on this memo is 4.25" long and 2" tall. This handwritten and signed "memo" a philosophical statement which doesn't seem to be addressed to anyone in particular, reads:
"Mankind will impose these conditions in proportion, as they come to know, that, what a man soweth that must he also reap, Some where, Some how, and at Some time, And that the Operation Laws so wise and good, that they will never require to be altered, amended or revoked."
Peter Cooper (1791-1883) was an industrialist and the inventor of the first steam powered railroad locomotive in America (called the Tom Thumb).
