Fractional Currency
Civil War "Stamp Currency" Fractional Currency Wallet

c. 1862, Civil War Era, Postage Stamp Currency Leather Wallet, Fine.
This very scarce, special wallet measures 2.25" by 3.5" unopened. Inside, as pictured, are five different compartments for storing Postage Stamps or Fractional Currency, marked with denominations of 5 , 10, 25, and 50, plus one unmarked compartment. This Wallet is well worn and fragile, and is clearly marked "Stamp Currency" in gold letters. The interior is clean, intact and remains tight. The main flap has a small .25" and .5" tear on each side, and the bottom has a tiny .25" piece missing. The ribbon which was used to secure the wallet is almost worn through. Extremely rare and in great collector demand.
